Lake Cormorant Community Park and Trail

The Lake Comorant Community Park and Trail is located just onHighway 161 in Western Desoto County, MS.  This park is located next to the  Community Center and features a walking trail and Ballfields. The walking trail is approximately 1/3mile in length.

Johnson Creek Greenway

The Johnson Creek Greenway project begins along Johnson Creek on U S Highway 61 and runs easterly along the creek towards the City of Horn Lake.

Status of Trail- Open Year Round.  The western section of the trail from Baldwin Rd to Highway 61 is open for walking along the Utility Roadbed and will be under construction this summer. Trailhead parking, landscaping and paving is scheduled for completion in late 2012

Swinging Bridge Nature Trail

The Swinging Bridge Nature trail is located southwest of Hernando, MS on Highway 301 just below the Arkabutla Lake dam on the south side of the spillway.

The Arkabutla Lake Education and Nature Center Trail (ARK) Trail

The ARK Nature trail is located 10 miles west of Hernando, MS on Highway 304 just west of Fogg Road. Look for signs and parking area on the left just after you cross Panther Creek.

    Coldwater River Nature Trail, Hernando, MS

    The Coldwater River Nature trail is located southwest of Hernando, MS on Highway 301 just below the Arkabutla Lake dam on the north side of the spillway.

      DeSoto County Visitor Center Trail

      The DeSoto County Visitors Center trail is located just off of Interstate Highway 55 and Church Rd, MS in Southaven, MS. This short walking trail circles around an existing storm water detention pond on the outer edge of the DeSoto County Civic center grounds.

      Length of Trail – 1/4 miles total

      Arkabutla Lake Nature and Environmental Education Center

      The Arkabutla Lake Nature and Environmental Education Center and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Visitor’s Center is a collaborative effort between the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers, DeSoto County Board of Supervisors, Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc. and the DeSoto County Greenways. The site is equipped with almost 2 miles of woodland walking trails already constructed and a future handicap accessible wildlife demonstration trail. In addition, the site is shown as a node on the future DeSoto County Greenways plan.
